Beantastic Burgers

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon sunflower oil
  • 1 large onion
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic (to taste)
  • 1 winter carrot
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin (djinten)
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 can of brown beans (drained weight approximately 215 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or soy sauce)
  • 75 grams of oatmeal
  • salt (to taste)

Preparation

Chop the onion and grate the carrot. Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the onion for 2 minutes. Squeeze the garlic over the pan (also finely chop the leftovers) and fry for another 1 minute. Add carrot, cumin and chilli powder and fry for another 2-3 minutes, until the carrot is soft. Turn off the heat and set the pan aside.

In a large bowl, mash the brown beans with a fork. Add the carrot mixture together with the ketchup, soy sauce and oatmeal. Knead with your hands and form four patties from the mixture.

Heat some more oil in a pan and fry the burgers for 4 to 5 minutes per side, until they are nicely browned on both sides.

Tip : These burgers will be firmer if you grind the oatmeal in the food processor beforehand. No food processor? No disaster! The burgers are still delicious.
